"Storage initialized" times on backups

Some backups jobs have the line "Storage initialized" in the individual VM log detail of some of the VMs.

This line - when it exists - always follows the line "Creating VM recovery checkpoint". Sometimes this step takes less than a minute, sometimes it takes an hour. Within one job, some VMs have this line, some don't list this line at all.

What does "Storage initialized" mean, and why is there such variance in its presence and its duration?

What is the storage used to host your VMs? Do you see this line for the same VMs or this message popups randomly affecting all VMs?
