I am still waiting any feed back from support , as we don't know what makes Veeam while taking snapshot terminated or altered the volume .

Re: The volume for a file has been externally altered.
What's poppin y'all, has there been any update to this problem? I Just encountered it with the following:
- Hyper-V 2016, using CSV for VM storage
- Veeam Free Edition, v9u3
- VHDX files being backed up
- Trigger: I drain-paused the host that the VMs were living on during the time of the backup
Hopefully this is some helpful information for you guys.

Re: The volume for a file has been externally altered.
With the OP it had to do with latency issues on their hardware. But I think it will be another issue in your case. Since you did a drain-paused during the backup it might be interesting that you contact support. I doubt there will be corruption or something, but it just seems not right that strange things happened while you did that drain
