We are running veeam version 12. We have some older backups of exchange 2010 and we need to extract some of the mailboxes to PST files.
When we get to the explorer phase, it says it cannot extract from this version of exchange. I understand from some other posts I was able to find, I should be able to use an older version of the explorer against a restored data file or VM.
Can anyone give me guidance on the steps involved to do this? I have been able to restore the exchange server and a domain controller to a virtual lab and have them running.
I also have the explorer MSI installer from the 11 available.

Re: Veeam 12 how extract mailboxes from Exchange 2010 backup
You could install the older Exchange Explorer to a different system, mount or restore the EDB there and then browse it. Older versions of the Explorer were portable, so you could even try moving the whole directory to your backup server and open the EDB with this one.
There's also an Exchange Powershell cmdlet with which you can create PST exports. So if you have the old server already running in a lab, this may be an alternative.
