Is the Veeam filter driver necessary on the Hyper-V hosts if we are using Hyper-V 2016 and relying on Microsofts CBT? We are having some issues with Hyper-V losing it's persistent handle on SMB and Microsoft Support wants us to remove the Veeam filter driver.
there is a Veeam filter driver loaded in the stack, and we both came across several threads online where users were experiencing similar symptoms with this filter driver installed, and apparently resolved them by removing or updating it. Please note that it may also be necessary to remove this filter driver from the stack before engaging the Windows Product Team, as documented in the following article which specifically discusses antivirus, however the same applies to any third-party filter drivers which may be loaded in the stack and could interfere with cluster operations.

Re: Veeam Filter Driver
Hi Collin, Veeam filter driver is also used for Instant Restore and FLR-related activity, so I wouldn't recommend removing it.
