Monitor not showing Storage Adapter/Path Stats
Veeam Support case # 5128497
I am using the Enterprise version Veeam Monitor 5.0.0.261 to monitor our ESXi 4.1 u1 (15 hosts) infrastructure. Everything is working fine except for the storage adapaters and storage path stats in both the Host view and Datastore view.
I can get these stats from the VIC but not out of Monitor. The login ID that I use fro Monitor is my administrator login ID for VCenter. That login has full admins rights to Vcenter starting at the top of the Vcenter object and propogated all the way down.
I have opened a support case and their suggestion was to make sure that the login account has rights to the datastore objects as mentioned in the admin guide. (A polite way to say RTFM, which I have done on a number of occasions).
Everything else is working good.
Does anyone have any ideas as to how to solve this issue?

Re: Monitor not showing Storage Adapter/Path Stats
Hi Joe,
I'm pretty sure that even read-only account should be sufficient for getting performance data from the hosts. Datastore browse permissions are only required for retrieving snapshot information.
Have you checked VeeamDCS.log for some tips on your issue? Do you have those counters missing for every host? By the way, what is your vCenter Server version?
Thanks.

Re: Monitor not showing Storage Adapter/Path Stats
Hi Vitaly!
Nice to hear from you again. This is happening for every hosts. I can see space utilization but not disk i/o, or disk issues.
My vcenter is at 4.1 u1 (4.1.0 build 345043) as well. I am seeing a lot of these errors in VeeamDCS.log: Error 0x0138 dscvcenter "Datastore task finished with error: Datastore 'fc.lun2704' is not accessible."
Any ideas as to what is causing this?

Re: Monitor not showing Storage Adapter/Path Stats
Hmm...the first thing I would try to do is to apply the latest Veeam Monitor hotfix, however the issue seems to be related to datastore connectivity issues.
If I were you I would also try to connect to one of the hosts directly. If it doesn't help, let me consult with our dev team for more ideas and possible resolution.

Re: Monitor not showing Storage Adapter/Path Stats
1. Where can I obtain teh HF?
2. I tried to connect to a host, instead of Vcenter, but apparently all of my licenses are in use at the moment. I was waiting to see if you or tech support had an answer to this. If you don't I'll remove our less important VDI vcenter (it's doing the same thing) and see what happens with teh host.

I disconnected a Vcenter and connected to an ESXi host. Same issues are occuring as with Vcenter.

1. All hotfixes can be obtained through our support team.
2. You may want to temporary exclude some hosts from monitoring, that should allow you to add the standalone one.

How many datastores in total do you have connected to ESXi hosts? By the way, is it local storage or SAN/NFS in question?jgremillion wrote:I disconnected a Vcenter and connected to an ESXi host. Same issues are occuring as with Vcenter.

Joe, I've just talked to our dev team, we think it's better to ask for a webex and see why those datastores are not accessible. Based on the information you have provided, I see no reasons why it shouldn't work.

Great Vitaly. I'll call support and set this up.

Re: Monitor not showing Storage Adapter/Path Stats
Okay. It's fixed now. Support (Alexus) made some registry hacks.
All is good now. Thanks for the help.

Re: Monitor not showing Storage Adapter/Path Stats
Bringing up an old thread....Do you have to be running 4.1 to see stats populated in the Storage Adapter tab in Veeam Monitor?

Re: Monitor not showing Storage Adapter/Path Stats
Dave, yes you must be running vCenter Server and ESX(i) hosts 4.1 to be able to view these stats, these metrics were introduced starting from that release only.
