Small datacenter - complete monitoring

Post by frankive »

We run a small Hyper-V datacenter with 2 HP Lefthand p4300 SAN, 2 HP dl360 G8 nodes and 2 switches with vlan.
I use veeam one to monitor the virtual machines, it works great.

Do any of you guys have some other monitoring tool which we should use to monitor out datacenter?
I have enabled smtp-alerts on HP event manager if there is something with the drives etc.
I am also considering using GFI MAX agents on the hyper-v hosts (physical).
I should also have a tool to warn about incidents on our redundant switches.

Any thoughts what we should use in such a small datacenter?

Hi Frank,

We only have Veeam ONE which basically is built to monitor your virtual environment. If you need other monitoring capabilities, then I guess you should be using 3rd party tools for switches and physical hosts and continue using Veeam ONE for your VI.

On a side note, you can create custom alarms for your physical Hyper-V server, just navigate to Events tab of the Hyper-V server and copy-paste the event name you want to be alarmed about to the new alarm you create. It is not exactly what you're looking for, but still gives you additional capabilities for physical Hyper-V server monitoring.

Thanks!
