Veeam Monitor installation

Post by is.service.desk »

Hello.
I just installed Veeam monitor on my XP service pack3 workstation. I verified that I had all the system requirements and I allowed the installer to install SQL 2005 Express & create the database. All seemed to install fine but when I try to run the app I get;

This application has failed to start because VeeamSNMP.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

So I did a search and found; VeeamSNMP.dl_ in the installation directory... I went ahead and renamed it to VeeamSNMP.dll and tried launching the app again.

Now the application launches, but when I go to Options --> Server Settings it says Collector Service status: Does Not exists
but database status is OK

Any ideas why the VeeamDCS service did not get installed correctly?

Hello Chris, what is the content of this file:
C:\Documents and Settings\<USERNAME>\Local Settings\Application Data\Veeam\Veeam Monitor for VMware\SvcUpdate.log

Sounds like installation failed at some point, have you tried to deinstall and reinstall the product?

I suspect I should maybe put the installer in the root of my C drive and try running tit from there... I'm going to do that now...

Actually I just figured out the problem... I have my cmd prompt set to automatically cd to my desktop (using the HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Command Processor\AutoRun key)
I removed the AutoRun entry and the SvcUpdate.log now looks clean... Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

I'm installing Veeam Monitor 4 on a system that formerly held 3.1. Downloaded bits 9/11. Same issue as the person above, although autorun is currently set to nothing....
Curious why the installer defaults to c:\windows\system32 rather than the absolute path to the installation files. If I create a "fix" batch file to execute the commands below inside of the correct path, no connections to Virtual Center happen. The result is that the "Class is not Registered".

Here is the log....

I've attempted to install veeam_monitor_4.0.1.156 on a separate Windows 2003 server with the exact same issue. Any suggestions?

Brian, the same autorun key also exists under HKEY_CURRENT_USER, can you please verify that it is set to nothing as well?
