View with all VMs showing free guest disk space
Hi,
is it possible to use VEEAM Monitor 5 to show a view of ALL vm´s in my datacenter presenting especially the free guest disk space for all guest volumes at a glance in a single window? And if not - is there any way to accomplish that with a script/report?
Best regards,
Joerg

Hi Joerg,
Yes, you can find the information required in the Overview Report. Just generate it using Report button on the upper panel and see how it works for you.
Thanks,
Vitaliy

Joerg, make sure you generate it on the infrastructure node to see all VMs. To do that, select this node in the tree, and click Report as Vitaly explained, or right-click it and run report from the shortcut menu.

Re: View with all VMs showing free guest disk space
Thanks, that is NICE!!
But at some machines with multiple large disks every disk shows green when expanding while the whole vm shows a red x.
Anyhow - i like this report very much. Very informative and slick.
Best Regards,
Joerg

Re: View with all VMs showing free guest disk space
The overall status for each VM is calculated by dividing the minimum free disk space number on the total disks' capacity. If the smallest free space number is relatively small and VM has lots of large disks it might be the reason for the behaviour described above.
If you have any thoughts regarding possible report improvements, please feel free to post your feedback, will be much appreciated.

I would expect - if at least one disk is red, then whole VM status is red. If all disks are green, then whole VM status is green. BTW, I think I had the same feedback when we designed this report

Re: View with all VMs showing free guest disk space
jup, i agree. the overall status should be green when all the disks are showing green. When ONE disks or more are red the overall status should be red, so you can pay attention to it and expand it. The way it is now you are forced to pay attention to a vm, expand it, and maybe everything is perfectly alright.

Joerg

Re: View with all VMs showing free guest disk space
oho, the good old excel-hell
tell em to implement a hidden field for each vhd carrying a 1 for red and a 0 for green. Now at the main level of a vm tell em to use a "=if-then" syntax to query if there is a single 1 in the row, if yes, display red, if no, display green.

Joerg

Hi Vitaliy,
any news on that one or even better, a hotfix or a new version around the corner?

Hi Joerg,
Conditional formatting in Excel is very tricky to play with, right now we are thinking of how to workaround that.

Hello David,
This logic was impossible to implement with current Excel-report approach. A new version of this report should be available in our next major release (Q2 next year).
Thanks.
