[Feature Request] Veeam for AHV - VeeamZIP Feature Parity

Post by HYF_JE »

Hi,

Been on my mind now for a while whenever I run into it, but kept forgetting to make a post.

Using VBR 12.1.2.172 (and every past version I've encountered), when taking a VeeamZIP of a VMware VM, you get several options for the VeeamZIP task - Delete backup automatically in x time, backup file encryption, and compression level. When doing the same for an AHV VM, you get none of these options.

Kinda frustrating if I'm honest to consistently feel like a second class citizen of Veeam just for being a Nutanix shop. If I had to order these missing features, I'd put them in this order of focus for product development if they can't deliver them all at the same time:
  1. Encryption
  2. Retention
  3. Compression

Yes these additions to VeeamZIP are on our radar but not yet prioritized for development.

Regarding your sentiments relative to our AHV functionality I can understand your perspective however I can assure you that from our C-suite down AHV is not a secondary priority. Unfortunately I cannot publicly share much of what's happening behind the scenes but I can tell you that given the changes in the industry landscape our Nutanix efforts have only been amplified. Of course it's also important to remember that our VMware integration has had twice the timeline to evolve
