Object storage repository cleanup takes very long to stop

Post by pirx »

Hi,

if I stop a offload task that is in cleanup state is sometimes takes a very long time. How critical is it to stop all Veeam services in this state? Will there be inconsistencies? This happens sometimes when our Windows servers get patched, I disable and stop all jobs an hour before but the offload cleanup tasks sometimes need much much longer to stop.

Hello! In general, in our design we don't expect that backup infrastructure servers are available 24/7, never crashing or rebooting unexpectedly. But I will ask developers.

Yes, they confirmed there's nothing to worry about. You will be aborting the retention processing there (the deletion of unused blocks). The remaining unprocessed blocks will be cleaned up later automatically.
