Scale-Out Backup Questions.

Post by german83 »

Hi All,

We have started a project with one customer which he requires to store his backups on a scale-out backup object capacity tier, I have a few questions I don't know if pointing to the right direction, sorry to ask for this but unfortunately I haven't done this I'm trying to document myself on this matter.

* Regarding the types of Storage Accounts I found this: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=110 I assume these are the the kind of account that I can use.

* For the replication it is possible to use any kind of replication for the Storage Account, (LRS, GRS, RA-GRS) I haven't found any article regarding this.

* And the last question the customer asked if it's possible to restore directly to Azure using the scale out backup repository. I assume this will require to have an Azure Backup Proxy to restore the files into Azure but I'm not sure. https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=110

Thank you.

Hello,
and welcome to the forums.

Storage accounts: yes, correct. Normally General Purpose V2 is what customers use.

Replication: is up to the customer. From Veeam perspective it's irrelevant

Restore directly to Azure: yes, that's possible. The Azure proxy VM is optional (see checkbox), but for optimized traffic flow, it should be used, yes.

Best regards,
Hannes
