VM Search GUI slowness

Post by daniflexx »

In a single server I have about 100 jobs protecting about 800VMs. At this point, to add a VM to a job is nearly impossible due to the search slowness. It can take about 10 minutes to find a machine in the search dialog. Trying to add it via powershell produces it is also very slow.

Veeam is connected to a single SCVMM2008 R2 that is quite responsive. The sever has plenty of CPU and RAM with a local SQLServer storage.

Environment: Veeam 7 R2, HyperV 2008 R2 and SCVMM 2008 R2 SP1.

It looks like that this was a bug in V6 but I guess is resolved now: http://forums.veeam.com/veeam-backup-re ... t9925.html

Any advise? Is there any limitation or advise in job ratio x server?

Hello Dani,

Try installing Veeam B&R patch 3, that contains a couple fixes that should help you.

Thank you!

Patch 3 does not fix the problem with the VM Search.

Searching a VM in the described scenario still takes more than 20 minutes.

Dani, then I would recommend contacting our technical team directly, so they could get as many details as possible about your setup. This would help us to further improve this functionality.

Check your Anti Virus on the Veeam sever, we were having a similar issue on our's disabling the AV service made all the difference. It's probably not recommended to leave the AV service disabled.

That's right. So instead, excluding Veeam catalog folder from AV monitoring might be a better course of action. Most antiviruses provide this functionality.
