alternative database
Hi,
our SQL Express runs out of space. Can I run Veeam One on a non-Microsoft database? We have a large Oracle installation here for instance.
Best regards
Christian

Re: alternative database
Hi Christian,
Veeam ONE supports MS SQL Server only. In order to lower the size of the database you can adjust retention policy settings via support utility >
BTW, how many hosts/VMs/datastores are you monitoring with Veeam ONE?
Thanks!

Code: Select all
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Veeam\Veeam ONE Settings\VeeamOneSettings.exe

Re: alternative database
Hi Vitaly,
the retention policy is already set to the minimum of 6 months. I would be happy with 3 months, too. But this is not choosable. We monitor 6 hosts, 96 VMs and 107 datastores. I don't know if this is too much.
What we don't use at the moment is the business view. Is it possible to disable it completely and get it out of the database?

Re: alternative database
VM performance data is the main contributor to Veeam ONE database size, so removing any configuration data will not do the trick. Do you use SQL Server Express 2008 or above?

Re: alternative database
Hmm...ok, I have just thought that you might be using SQL Server 2005 that has a 4GB limit for the database size.

Re: alternative database
The strange thing is that I changed the retention policy from 1 year to 6 months. This was about 2 months ago and the database is full again? Is it possible to purge old data manually?

Re: alternative database
Old data is purged automatically according to the configured retention policy. If the configured threshold does not give the result you need, I believe there might be a way to remove historical performance data manually. Please contact our technical team for assistance with this.
