change IP-Address of ESX destination

Post by cicero »

Hi,

is it possible to change the ip-address of a replication target ESX?
Don't want to delete the host with old ip
and create it new, because all the 2 TB replication hosts have to be retransmitted.

By the way, it would be helpfull, if all the diffrent generations of the replication
could also be used on the new ip-host.

Thanks, David

David, changing host's IP address should not have any effect on your jobs if you configured your job using DNS host names. However, if you did it using IP addresses, then no, it is not possible to change destination in the current version.

I just went through this exact process. I have my replication target as a host on my local network, accessible via host name. I created a VPN to my backup network to test the replication across the VPN, that will happen tonight. Then, if all goes well after a couple of weeks I will again change the IP of my ESX host and move it to my co-location across town.

Working good so far, I can get to the management console no problem!

What about updating "name" field in "hosts" table and "location" field in "ObjectsInJobs" table of the "VeeamBackup" SQL database ?

No need to :) This is an old thread - Veeam Backup supports changing replica destination from UI since v4.
