Upgrade veeam 7.0 R2 and change server w2012

We are looking for the best options for upgrading our platform.

Origin:
Veeam Server: Windows Server 2008 R2
Veeam Version: 6.5.0.144
SQL: SQL 2005 (Local in Veeam Server)
Proxies server: 13 Server
Backup JOB = 22
VM in Job = 180
VCenter = 1
Retention points = 14 Max (Mix Incremental and Reversed)


Destination:
Veeam Server: Windows Server 2012
Veeam Version: 7 R2
Equal Jobs.

Options:
A) Upgrade veeam in actual server and migrate configuratión to w2012 Server.
B) Migrate configuratión to w2012 Server and upgrade Veeam in this now server.
C) ....

What is the best practice?

You should upgrade your backup installation first, because VB&R 6.5 doesn't support Windows 2012 R2.

Do you have EM deployed in your environment? If so, it should be upgraded to v7 prior to upgrading backup server.

Also, I'm wondering whether this Is virtual or physical machine. In case of virtual, prior to upgrading you can backup this machine in order to be on the safe side. Otherwise, backup its configuration (configuration backup functionality).

No, you should upgrade your installation to version 7 first. Then, to the latest patch level. The information regarding upgrading procedure can be found in the Release Notes (see Upgrading B&R section).
