Restore SQL files to server (not original location)

Post by infused »

Hi guys.

Is it possible to restore individual files to the server, but not the original location? I see the restore option, but it says it wants to go back to the original location. We need it to be in a different directory. The only other option is copy to, but that seems to be the local machine.

Thanks

Hi, Hayden. Just add your SQL server to the list of Managed Servers in Veeam, and you will be able to pick it as a destination. Thanks!

I'd just like to dump the files in a directory on the server though. Is this possible?

Hayden, if you are talking about Windows FLR, then the Copy To option allows you to restore files to any computer on the network, just click Browse when you are prompted to specify the target location and select the required machine.

You can always do it through a share (including hidden shares such as \\server\c$) as foggy explained, or you can do it the way I have described. I just forgot to mention that for my approach, you need to use Multi-OS FLR wizard.

The important question no is asking is, are you talking about files for the OS or programs, or the database and log files for your SQL databases?

I don't need an application level restore.

The problem im running in to is that I'm putting up the restore host on a distributed switch that veeam can't contact. Therefore I get an error about SSH access... Any other options?

I don't see any other options except for using Multi-OS FLR wizard in your scenario.

The benefit of using Multi-OS FLR wizard is that you can connect the helper appliance to any network.
