Bottleneck: Network in Direct SAN mode

Post by luckyinfil »

Anybody know where I can start troubleshooting this? The Veeam server (proxy is installed on this server) is connected to the switch via 8 GB FC links which is connected to the SAN via 8 GB links.

Backups are running at about 400-450 MB/s.

Where is network even used anywhere in this configuration?

John, not sure to follow you. In the title you say bottleneck, is this the result you see in our bottleneck stats during a backup?
The network , if you mean the ethernet network, should not be used at all in a DirectSAN backup using FC fabric, so having no traffic on ethernet is totally expected. You are going to see ethernet traffic only if the repository in not the same server as the veeam proxy.
