Tape drive, Veeam server & Proxy topology
I have not created a support ticket I just wanted opinions or instruction what to change on my setup to achieve the best results from Veeam products.
We currently backup the Production site to iSCSI NAS, then use B-Exec to pull the VBK's to the DR site/tape but, planning to move the Veeam server offsite to the DR site with tape drive and remove Symantecs solution from our environment all together, is the following setup suitable? Would moving the other proxy vBackup-02 system to the production site improve performance as the Physical Veeam Server is providing the proxy role at the DR site?

Yes, the setup looks good. You'd better keep the virtual proxy on the DR host for faster replication and restores using hotadd.DeanGTS wrote:is the following setup suitable? Also, how are you going to send backups to DR site for further offload to tapes?

Thanks foggy.
Was hoping that a Veeam Tape job would manage that with the proxies, it is over a private link if that's what you mean..

Correct, though not the proxies, but data mover agents installed on repository and backup management server.

Would NAS storage have the data moving agent installed as it's just presented as a LUN to Veeam server currently.
Would you suggest keeping the virtual Veeam server at the datacentre for this purpose & will this be leveraged with jobs created on the physical Veeam server.
Thanks in advance for all your time

No, you'd better present it to some Windows or Linux server in the production site or specify a proxying server that resides there.DeanGTS wrote:Would NAS storage have the data moving agent installed as it's just presented as a LUN to Veeam server currently.

Re: Tape drive, Veeam server & Proxy topology
Great news, it is presented to the vm vBackup-01 which is currently our Veeam server. Decided on ditching the other solution we have in place for tape for a simpler all in one solution as it was overly complicated to manage and monitor each solution, so just wanted to confirm it was possible with the currently available resources.

Ah, ok, I thought you were referring to the Veeam Server (Physical). Feel free to ask for any additional clarification, if required.
