How to remove part of the veeam Management Pack

Post by GMLU_IT »

Hi folks

With the new veeam Management Pack 6.5 for vmware are also management pack files for the veeam backup-solution included.
In our environment we don't use this product so there is nothing to monitor :-)
while installing the veeam management pack, can we just ignore the veeam backup-files to import in SCOM? Or is it possible in a second step in the SCOM-Console just remove all Management-Pack-Entries named "veeam Backup..."?

Hi,

Yes, you are absolutely free to remove Veeam Backup MPs or to ingore them during the initial installation and deployment, you can do this even if you have Veeam Backup and Replication. Although if you have VBR - it makes no sense to remove the management pack, because it provides really unique capabilities which allow you to be sure that your virtual infrastructure is protected and that VBR infrastructure is healthy :) I would definitely recommend you to at least try how VBR and Backup MP works - we are really proud for the fact that we now have the integration.

Thanks.
