fast question about tag "read"

Post by menced »

In the mail sent after a backup, the "Read" field in an incremental backup, mean the data read DIFFERENT from the first total backup?

I mean

Code: Select all

FULL BACKUP:

Name Status Start time End time Size Read Transferred Duration Details
 asf Success 23:01:59 23:14:33 49,6 GB 47,2 GB 21,8 GB 0:12:34

Code: Select all

INCREMENTAL:

Name Status Start time End time Size Read Transferred Duration Details
asf Success 23:02:04 23:03:52 49,6 GB 469,0 MB 159,1 MB 0:01:48
Does this mean that the "Read" field is so low in the incremental backup because a smaller part of data are changed from the first backup (469.0 MB)?

Data transferred are so lower because they are compressed from read data?

Thanks

Correct, Veeam B&R performs incremental backups, copying only those data blocks that have changed since the last job run.

Correct, there is a compression and source-side deduplication too.
