Alert filtering

Post by sepj12927 »

Hi,

We have a distributed organisation that uses SCOM 2012. I want to create alert views that only contains alerts from a particular vcenter and the resources within that.

If I create a group with one vcenter and then create an alert view targeting that group I get a lot more alerts than I expect. I.e. Disk Space alerts.

Is there a way to get around this, without filtering on the Alert Name?

Hi,

Sorry for a delay in my response. I had to check some SCOM authoring rules.

It should be possible to create a view targeted to a specific vcenter, for example by using your example of specifying as a target a group with vcenter in it. Then you can select a condition "created by a specific sources" and select all monitors you are interested in. This way scope of alerts will be limited to monitors you need and without filtering the alert name (which can be cumbersome).

Let me know if you need any additional assisitance with this.

Thanks.
