Slow Restore speed 8Mb/s

Post by ShawnZA »

Was wondering if anyone else experienced this before. Usually our restore speed is over 100Mb/s, but since the latest patch 3 we only get 8 - 9Mb/s restore speed for some servers, so a 3Tb server is taking 5 days to restore, and that is a big problem for us at the moment. Did log a call, but just checking if anyone else experienced something similar.

We are on vSphere 5.1 and Veeam 7 patch 3, 5 hosts, FC storage. Nothing has changed except the upgrade to patch 3. And not all servers restore times are that bad, some restore at 80Mb/s, but bigger servers (over 200GB) restore slow

Shawn, could you please check whether slow restores are typical to some particular proxy server or do not depend on that? What transport mode is being utilized to populate target datastore (network or hotadd)?

we are experiencing similar issues (note we are using network transport)

Also, it seems our average backup rate has dropped from about 96 MB/s to 37 MB/s

Look for some changes in your environment... a sudden significant change in backup performance can only be caused by that, as we don't touch engine code in patches. Start from looking at the bottleneck stats to determine the weak spot.
