New SCSI controller = full backup?
Hi, we're just working through splitting multiple disk VMs so each disk has it's own SCSI controller in our environment. I noticed today that a VM I did this to last night performed a full backup today for the disk I moved, no CBT. Is this normal behaviour, or is there a way I can avoid this for the rest I need to change..?

Re: New SCSI controller = full backup?
We distinguish virtual disks using their numbers (0:1, 0:2, etc.). Therefore, moving disk to another SCSI controller results in full disk backup. Thanks.

Re: New SCSI controller = full backup?
Out of interest, if we added WAN accelerators to our source/destination would that prevent a re-copy of all the data on these disks over the WAN? We don't currently use accelerators but if it will help I'll add them. Looking over the disks I still need to change there is about 1TB of data that will end up getting re-copied with the SCSI controller changes. Thanks.

Re: New SCSI controller = full backup?
Hi Alain,
I believe that should make a trick, as WAN Accelerators do not rely on VMware CBT, Veeam backup copy job (if we are referring to this type of jobs) will compare each disk (review global cache folder) and then will transfer VM changes only.
Thanks!

Re: New SCSI controller = full backup?
Though, the source backup job would still perform full backup of disk added under new SCSI controller. Thanks.
