Veeam Cmp & DeDupe v.s EMC DD ?

Post by skydok »

Hi,
I am in a small situation for proposal and don't know what the best way is .
I'm prepearing the Design as RFP wants.

Production Site - Veeam Physical Server with Tape and local capacity for VMs backups.
DR Site - Veeam Physical Server with Tape(for restore in disaster) and not Local Capacity but has EMC DATA Domain as repository.

I think that EMC DD is not relevant in the solution here but please help me to verify it.

1Backup Job to Local Repository with Veeam Compress & Dedupe ,If i do Backup Copy Job to DR will the Data be compressed and dedup or will it be Uncompressed and resasambled?

What should i do ?
They want Local Copy on Disks + To tapes + Second Copy to DR Site in the DD.

Backup copy job, as well as, backup job has its own compression and deduplication settings. So, it's up to you to make or don't make backup copy job compress/deduplicate data. Thanks.

And most likely you would want to set different compression level for data sent to dedupe storage (dedupe friendly compression is recommended).
