I don't think you are right with this statement, Dmitry. From what I know, those are designed to be performed at the data stream speed. Anyway, I am not sure how potential performance implications are relevant to what is being discussed in this topic (file corruption).d.popov wrote:Enabling/disabling hardware encryption could dramatically impact performance on backup/restore operations from tape libraries. Re: restore large files from tape
I still checked restored from tape backup (3 tapes). In one VM has a bug. I think all the backups to tape, occupying more than one tape is inconsistency (backup files and backup VM)
Statistic:
VM count: xxxx
Incomplete VM count: 0
Failed VM count: 1
Files count: eee
Total size: zzz TB
Validation failed.
The following VMs are corrupted:
1. 'xxxxxxx': File "yyyyyyyyy" is corrupted. Failed to decomp
ress LZ4 block: Bad crc (original crc: b0f45e41, current crc: bdced7a7).

Re: restore large files from tape
QC and support departments are currently looking into this to find the reasons of this inconsistency.

Re: restore large files from tape
Any news on this?
I'm having the same problem. I have a support case opened, 00513625. I was told by support to split the backup into smaller jobs that fit on one tape and that worked except for one VM that is too large to fit on one tape. We are running 7.0.0.839. The library is a HP MSL 2024 G3 with a LTO drive, both with the latest firmware.

Re: restore large files from tape
As far as I can see from the case provided above, it is still under investigation. Please continue working with support as having more information would allow our engineers to nail the issue down faster.

Re: restore large files from tape
the solution is to replace the three files. I do not know how to add them in the forum

Re: restore large files from tape
Got it. The solution wasn't to perform specific steps, but rather to replace certain product files. For all new-comers, if you experience the same problem, please, contact our support team. They will provide you with the new files, once your issue is confirmed to be the known one.
Thanks.
Thanks.
