Can i clone the VM from backups with veeam

Post by mirror51 »

I have vmware Esxi and my backups are stored in NFS Share.

I have seen that my backups are saved in folder which is named fron=m the job name.

Now the backup is in one file with some extension.

My questions

1. Is it possible to make backups same as it look in datastore , i mean vmdk file etc . so that i should be able to copy that to anywhere like vmware workstation in PC and power on that VM

2. IS it possible that from veeam backup file i can make new VM to another Esxi server added in the Veeam BR

As for 1)
You could start an Instant Recovery and then use vmWare Workstation or Converter to move that VM to another datastore or to a local drive for use with Workstation.
As far as I know only Veeam can make use of a Veeam backup file.

As for 2)
You can just restore the VM you want to another ESXi-server, or replicate it using Veeam B&R.

Yes, you should use VM Copy functionality.

Yes, just restore the required VM to the target host.

Thanks.
