Backup Exchange 2013 Cluster

Post by S.Net »

Hi guys,

I created a new backup job for two Exchange 2013 in a DAG mode. Both machines are into Hyper-V Cluster. When I try to restore Exchange DB, I can't see the database so the question is if Exchange 2013 Cluster is supported or not.

Thanks

Hello,

Can you please give us a bit more details on what you were doing. Did you try to restore the Exchange DB via FLR wizard?

Thank you!

Sure! When I try to use the Veeam Explorer for Exchange, I can't see the databases. Is like the other disks, where there are DBs, are not protected.

Do you see these databases present when you start Windows FLR wizard? What is the disk type where you store these dbs?

No because I can't see the other disks. there's a way to force the backup of scsi disks (hyper-v)?

Oh...you have in-guest iSCSI initiated volumes within these VMs? If you have VM disks that are not visible in VMs configuration, then these disks cannot be backed up by any image based backup solution. See these quote from the release notes:
Pass-through virtual disks and disks connected via in-guest iSCSI initiator are not supported, and are skipped from processing automatically.

Just to be "clear", I've already re-scanned the disk into the Hyper-V Cluster

Hmm... not sure why you don't see these disks in the backups. Do you see any messages in the job session regarding this disks? Also in order to speed up the process, I would also recommend opening the case with our technical team to verify job and VMs configuration.

is all ok. the strange thing is that another VM, with more than one disk, backups all the data without problem. I will try to open a case with my customer.
