Server 2012R2 backing up a 2012 Cluster offhost

Post by nickct »

Hi,

We have installed Veeam 7 Backup and Replication on a Windows Server 2012R2 system which has a direct connection to our SAN via FC.
When we attempt to backup our Hyper-V Cluster running on Windows Server 2012 (non R2) we get an error stating that the OffHost Proxy could not be found.
The backup server (2012R2) is not on the cluster I am trying to back up.

Is there a way to get the offhost proxy to work other than reinstalling the backup server to Windows Server 2012?

Hello,

I believe both production and off-host Windows Servers should be on the same version to be able to mount the volume hosting the VMs. BTW, did you install hardware VSS provider and mounted all the LUNs to the off-host Windows box?

Thank you!

Hi,

Yes the hardware VSS provider is installed and I can see the LUNs in the OffHost Proxy configuration (All my CSV volumes show up correctly)

As Vitaliy has pointed out, both servers should use the same OS version, which isn't true in your case (on: 2012; off: 2012 R2). Thanks.
