SOX Compliance restore of files

Veeam Support - Case # 00605757

We are required to restore files from our quarterly backup tapes for SOX Compliance. Veeam is new
to us.

Basically we need to restore some files from a number of VMs from the tape.

Manually doing this for 3 VMs alone to restore to local server, decompile the vdk and extract them takes hours.

Is there a Virtual Lab for dummies book or link for this topic? (A step by step guide on how to do this or achieve
the end results we would need definitely would help)

File-level restores directly from tape are not currently possible. You need to restore entire backup files to local disk first and then start FLR session to retrieve required files.

Is tape the only target allowed by SOX? Because otherwise I would suggest to use GFS rotation in BackupCopy job and run restores from there instead of tapes, and only use tape after 90 days of retention.
