Data store lantency - 3000+ years?????

Good morning,

I am receiving strange reports from the VM storage Analysis reports. When you change the milliseconds value it is way over 3000 YEARS! What is happening here and how do I fix it?

Hello Martin,

This is a know issue for VMware, during the snapshot removal process these abnormal latency values can be observed for this metric. Also you may want to check vSphere Client for VM latency, there should be the same spike reported. VMware has released a KB article that describes all the details, please check it out.

BTW, what MP version are you currently running?

Running 6.5, but was looking to upgrade to 7 sometimes soon. Would you recommend this?

Hi Martin,

We've implemented a workaround for this VMware issue in v7, so if you want to avoid such big values in latency counter you need to upgrade to the latest version of our Management Pack.

Besides this workaround, version 7 contains a lot of new cool features for VMware, such as new Operations Manager console widgets and dashbroads, vSphere HA status tracking and new ESX host security profile monitoring and many more. So I would absolutely recommend you to upgrade to v7. Keep in mind that there are several way to upgrade, so I would recommend you to check the upgrade instructions in the Installation Guide http://veeampdf.s3.amazonaws.com/guide/ ... LI%2FiA%3D
