Corrupted tape

Post by itig »

Hello, I have a tape that is corrupt (it is in the media pool Retired). I am able to read the tape but not write.

Is there a way to restore the data and send them on another tape keeping the history for the VM?

Thank you

The retired cassette can be either a physically destructed medium or just a medium with exceeded number of acceptable rewrite cycles. In former case, most likely it will not be possible to restore data. In the latter case, the situation is the opposite - restore should work flawlessly.

However, currently there is no such a thing as tape clone or tape-to-tape-copy operation.

Thanks.
