Veeam Restore Operator

Post by stillcut »

Hello,

I've defined a Veeam Restore Operator and I am quite surprise to realise that this user can achieve a failover.
Is it by design ?
Can I disallow the failover action for this user ?

Thank your for your help.

Restore operator can perform restore operations over backups and replicas, while failover to a replica VM is considered a restore operation (since it is typically performed in DR situation). You cannot modify the predefined roles, however, if we are talking about roles defined within Enterprise Manager, then you can limit the restore scope of the particular account by specific VMs it is able to restore.

Thank you foggy for your answer.

I want to create an user which can restore files and emails.
In Enterprise Manager, a Veeam Restore Operator can restore files but not emails. Tell me if I'm wrong
In Backup & Replication, a Veeam Restore Operator can restore files and emails, but can also achieve a failover which is to risky in our infrastructure.
It's look like a dead end street !

The ability to restore Exchange items from Enterprise Manager will be added in Veeam B&R v8, so you just have to wait a bit.
