where to see repository size and amount used/free

Post by Lyle »

I must be looking right at it, but I can't figure where I see the total size of a repository, and how much is consumed or free.
"Backup Infrastructure" shows a column with "Free" for the repository, but not for total size. Can't seem to add a column to that view either.

Thanks....Lyle

Off the top of my head, you can definitely see that under backup repository selection drop box in the Backup Job wizard

Thanks, Anton. Yes, it's available in that wizard.

I'm just getting started with B&R, and I know from nothing. ;-) But I'd think knowing the relative capacity of a repository used or available would be a good thing. Maybe even a simple report over time, so you'd know when or if you're going to run out.

I'm slowly adding backup jobs and VM's but don't really know when I'll run out of storage. Of course I should do the calculations suggested in the Best Practices guide, but am planning on keeping a daily eye on it for a while here at the beginning.

Thanks again....Lyle

Seems like you need something like Capacity planning for backup repositories report? If you also have Veeam ONE deployed in your VI (part of Veeam Backup Management Suite), then please take a look at this report > http://helpcenter.veeam.com/one/70/repo ... ories.html

Nevertheless, we will add capacity to the Backup Repositories grid. May be even in v8, if it appears to be easy.

I looked this one up in TFS check in history just out of curiosity, and this appears to be implemented back in November 2013 (right after v7 release)... so looks like someone has beaten you to that ;)

Anton, do you mean i can see that right now already? Looking at the repositories I only see Free space, not size.. I am running current version of B&R (patch #4).

thanks, Peter
