Questions about the Powershell snap-in

Post by stephaneb »

Hello,

Is it possible to install the Powershell snap-in on a computer that is not the Veeam Backup & Replication server and access the Veeam Backup & Replication server remotely?

Alos, do you have plans to integrate cmdlets that would let us view/query objects that are in the "Backups" view in the GUI?
This would enable reporting (such as how much space is being used by each Backup).

Regards,

Stephane

Stephane, I believe you can use PowerShell remotely today if you install PowerShell 2.0 on Veeam Backup server and your console. PowerShell 2.0 fully supports remote operations.

There are no immediate plans to enhance PowerShell functionality (we had no additional feature requests before). There are however plenty of support questions, so it seems like the current functionality works for most customers today. Anyhow, your feedback for missing features is appreaciated as always.

Concerning actual reporting, please check out reports we provide in the Enterprise Manager. They are very flexible, for instance you can drill down into backup jobs there and get the same report you are talking about above (with one-click export to Microsoft Excel).

Thanks!
