Choosing disk right disksystem for backup

Post by techno-par »

Hi
We have an ESXi 5.5 environment with fc san infrastructure and 3PAR systems, using Veeam for backup. Today the backup data use our 1Gb
ip infrastructure and write to a cifs share on a Datadomain system, but we plan to install physical proxy servers with fc hba's with access to the 3PAR luns through the san switches.
Veeam will use 3PAR snapshots and write backup data to a secondary storage system. The question what storage system should we choose.
We are looking at MSA2040 and Nexsan E48VT (with turbo chip). Proxy servers will be HP Proliant G9 servers with os win 2012 R2, dedicated fc cards for 3PAR and dedicated fc cards for
MSA2040/Nexsan.

MSA2040 and Nexsan are at the same price level, and we plan to use 4TB NLSAS drive in a raid 6 setup.
Should we choose Nexsan or HP MSA as our secondary storage?

Regards

Geir
