Backup Job Exclude Disk

Post by Wocka »

Hello,

I'm new to Veeam (I'm still in trial mode) and VMWare.
I have a Virtual server running Exchange Server 2010 on W2K8 R2.

I would like to test the ability to just backup the Windows disk that has the Exchange Store on it (the 220GB disk), in order to do a seperate monthly backup for archival purposes.
My VM Setup looks like this:
Hard disk 1 Virtual Disk LUN8 / 75GB / SCSI (0:0) = OS
Hard disk 2 Virtual Disk LUN8 / 220GB / SCSI (0:2) = Exchange Store
Hard disk 3 Virtual Disk LUN8 / 50GB / SCSI (0:2) = Exhange Log files
Hard disk 4 Virtual Disk LUN8 / 5GB / SCSI (0:3) = Scratch
Hard disk 5 Virtual Disk LUN8 / 10GB / SCSI (1:0) = Page File
Hard disk 6 Virtual Disk LUN8 / 10GB / SCSI (2:1) = Public Folders

When I create a New Backup Job / Virtual Machines / Exclusions / Disk, I only see the following disks:
SCSI (0:0)
SCSI (0:1)

Why do I not see all the other disks as per my VMWare configuration?
If I only want to backup the Exchange Store then I want Disk SCSI (0:2), even if I end up backing up the 220GB + 50GB drived that is fine.
Am I just meant to manually select these disks?

Warwick, you can just select the required disk (SCSI (0:2)) manually. Btw, what kind of disk it is? Is it a regular virtual disk?

Also, I would note that with system disk excluded from the job, you would not be able to perform file-level restore to original location from the Veeam B&R console.
