Monitor Hyper-V 2008 r2

Post by PatrikPriess »

Hi

Tryed a free trial of Veeam One at one our customers. They have a Hyper-V 2008r2 cluster with 6 hosts.

Around 100 VMs.

I cant get any info from my VM's. Guest disk Space, Memory useage ect.

Anyone know why ? Is it supported ?

Yes, Hyper-V 2008 R2 is fully supported. Do you have any data for the Hyper-V host themselves?

Guest disk Space is not available for Hyper-V VMs (this data is not avaialble Hyper-V API), only virtual disk space is collected. As for the memory usage counter, do you use static or dynamic memory?

You did nothing wrong ;) Since you're using static memory, then on the VM summary page you should see a grayed out widget for VM memory usage. In Hyper-V 2008 R2 VMs consume all memory you allocate to them, so memory usage from hypervisor level is always 100% (Hyper-V API reports that), while it is different in the Guest OS. Once you start using Dynamic memory, then you will be able to see real memory usage/demand.

Given all that, I assume you see everything Hyper-V 2008 R2 allows you to see. Hope this helps!
