New Main Repo with New Jobs to Existing Backup Copy Repo?

Post by jlester »

We've been working on revamping our storage and backups. We're decommissioning an old HP EVA SAN and and old HP x1800 Storage Server. Our new primary backup repository is an HP StoreEasy 1640. I created all new jobs going to the new backup server. We're running the new jobs and the old ones in parallel for now to make sure the new server is stable. The new jobs are basically clones of the existing ones, with just changes to the proxy and repository options.

Once we are sure everything is stable and disable the old jobs, can we point the new jobs to the existing backup copy jobs with no issues? I'm assuming the backup copy jobs work at the source VM level and are not really dependent on what job originally created the source backups?

If you refer whether you can point your existing backup copy jobs to new backup repositories, then the answer is yes. It does not matter where backup copy jobs searches for new VM restore points that should transferred to another location.
