Feature Requests

Post by useronly »

hello,
first to say: even the beta-version works good!

Posibility to add 2 Jobs different jobs - first one for the system (once a month)
- second one for the file backup (daily or weekly...)
Nice to Have:
Posibility for the user to cancel backup (but only 3 times (configurable), but the next time he can´t cancel backup)

With this solution i´m in no need for any other (not VEEAM) Software to complete my hole backup!
Thank you

Do you mean completely cancel backup job or do overrides to the configured backup schedule?

Thanks!

It should be an posibility to Cancel backup If the Situation is unconvinient for the User. On the other side it should not be possible to cancel the backup every time to be sure to have backups.

Markus,
It’s up to the end user, I guess, as it is hard to predict such situation. You can do that in the Endpoint Control Panel: while the backup is running – you can cancel it, when you feel you need a backup – you can press Backup Now button.

Seems like a Windows update feature, which you can postpone for sometime, and then all of a sudden it reboots your PC to install the updates, hate it ;)

Thanks Vitaliy, that is exactly my Intention with this request. as some of my users will have never time to let the backup run. but exactly this usertype will cry loudest if the device is broken and the data is lost...

Can you clarify this "inconvenience" please? Our backup process does not impact user activity, and pretty much completely halts automatically when the system is busy (unless you disable the corresponding option).

may be you are right. as the process is really not "impacting" the user´s won´t cancel it to often.

While (as Anton said) our backup process does not impact user activity, although I know that some users will press "cancel" anyway when they (by accident) see that a backup is being taken. It is in end-users nature I guess :-D

Maybe something to consider is too make sure that the backup progress cannot be seen by the end-user in a next version should be enough to avoid this?

this could solve most of the Problem and maybe a "don´t run on battery" would help to reduce the rest a Little more. The final rest should be "user-education" ;-))

"don´t run on battery"
Do not run backup when the battery is lower than 10% + notification in the CP will be available in GA version.
