SAP backup Backint
Hi,
We are migrating from Networker at Veeam. we have SAP virtualized on VMware, Windows 2003, oracle 10g, ECC6.
Let's backup with the backint SAP and scheduling is done via SAP (DB13). How can I do the same with VEEAM?
Best Regards

Hi Livio,
Not sure I fully understand your question. Can you please clarify? Do you want to use SAP scheduling or what?
Thanks!

You can only use scheduling that is available in the backup/replication job settings.

Re: SAP backup Backint
You can still back it up via native tool, dump your backups to the virtual disk of the VM and then backup the entire VM with Veeam.

Re: SAP backup Backint
From my perspective, the best way would be to set SAP native tool operations as pre-job activity. Thanks.

Hi Eremin,
can you explain how?
Now, with plugin agent for SAP configurated with define pool and backup server, the system backup interacts giving the ability to write in the pool required.

Re: SAP backup Backint
Can you launch all your SAP backup activity via script? PowerShell, batch? If yes, then you can specify this script in the Veeam backup job as a pre-job activity.

Both pre-job and post-job activities can be specified in the job advanced settings. Thanks.

Re: SAP backup Backint
I'm not an expert on SAP backup, but I think that Backint is the interface that allows for the native SAP backup tools (BRBackup/BRRestore) to backup directly to a media pool of a 3rd party backup product, effectively redirecting the stream directly to the 3rd party managed media pool. Veeam does not have support for this. However, the native SAP tools can be scripted to run backups to just regular disk targets which could then be backed up with Veeam. It should be possible to trigger these backups with pre-job scripts if desired.
