Feature Request - build recovery media with other PC drivers

Post by ronnysteiner »

When running the create Recovery Media wizard, it would be very nice to not only include hardware drivers from the computer where the wizard is running but also point to other computers in the network to include their drivers in the recovery media as well.
I know you can add additional directories with drivers but most people don't know where they have to search for them.
Now with only one recovery media, you can restore backups from multiple computers and don't have to create a recovery media for every computer.

Hi Ronny,
You can include the additional drivers in the Recovery Media creation wizard manually, thats true (you need to check the box “Include the following storage and network hardware drivers, then hit add and specify the location of the necessary driver).

You want to scan the other machine's hardware while using one instance of Endpoint?

Hi Ronny,

Scanning other machine's hardware sounds like a good idea, but the impact of it might be another thing. I have a thought about your business problem that I want to run by you.

Most hardware vendors deliver "packages" of drivers for their hardware (for example, to import it directly into SCCM to build new images). I'm not sure how much work that is, or how difficult it is, but is this something that might help your case? So when creating recovery media, simply import a number of driver packages (although the recovery media will grow in size...) so that it is ready for multiple computers?

Just an idea that might be interesting to investigate.

Give me your thoughts!

Thanks

Mike
