Hyper-V Locked, Cluster Equallogic
Hello,
I have a support case open that has not had the response time I was hoping for.
But here is the issue.
We have a 2 host Hyper-V 2012r2 cluster, using an equallogic ps6100 san.
The firmware for the san and hosts are all up to date, the integration tools for the SAN are all up to date. Everything you could possibly think of, is up to date.
However, Veeam will not back up any virtual machines on host 1.
When you go to backup infrastructure, select the host and go to manage volumes.. If you do a rescan on host 1 for what kind of writer to use (whether equallogic VSS or Microsoft CSV), it will freeze up Veeam, or not respond for an hour+ before ending Veeam through task manager.
Veeam spits out failures in the backup log stating that Could not read VSS, we also see messages in Veeam stating that the Hyper-V is locked.
In the host that fails to backup, you see messages about compatabilitychecker.exe failing, the error comes up every 5 to 10 minutes, other than that there are no VSS writer failures in VSSADMIN LIST WRITERS and no errors on the SAN.
Makes no sense.....
Any suggestions?

Sean, according to the case notes, you were requested to provide logs on Monday. Considering some time is required to review them, I believe you will be contacted by the engineer shortly.

Foggy.
I have received a response back from the technician.
His response is basically, I have spoken with a few tech's and we do not know. Can you try a reboot.
We have done multiple reboots, this has not resolved the issue.
Is there more information I should post on here to get more answers?

You may want to ask for the case escalation to a higher tier.

Probably other community members who have encountered similar issues will chime in. However, issues like that typically require thorough logs investigation, which is performed by the dedicated technical support engineers.
Btw, am I understanding right that you cannot backup VMs on the first node no matter what (even if there are no other jobs running at that moment)?

Yes you are understanding that correctly.
I was hoping that the forum support staff could look into the case and get more information or maybe someone has dealt with similar before

Re: Hyper-V Locked, Cluster Equallogic
The team behind this forum is not involved in support and cannot make sense of the debug logs, so pushing your engineer to look closer at the issue, or escalating it is the most effective way of addressing it.

And the easiest way to do that, is to click Talk to a Manager link in the right hand column of our Customer Support Portal
