We are in the midst of rolling out a new Veeam 8 install and I've read and heard different info in regards to the HP Storeonce products as a target. We have used Exagrid with another backup product and we never really saw dedupe ratios over 5:1, so I am interested in looking at other storage options. My HP rep is tossing around the Storeonce product but I'm skeptical of the dedupe rates as well as recovery performance. I am leaning towards using a 3Par 7200 w/ 48 x 4 TB drives instead because cost per GB is so cheap in comparison to any dedupe product I've seen and the reliability and our experience with 3Par makes it preferred. Does anyone have any real world experience they can speak of with Storeonce or another dedupe product that they are using?
Environment specs:
Veeam 8 Enterprise Plus
VMware 5.x on many hosts
3Par 7200 datastores (8 Gb FC)
Utilizing Storage snapshots over 8 Gb FC
Our POC was able to backup groups of VM's at around 350 MB/s so the throughput is great, but final Veeam compression=1.6x and dedupe=1.5x.
Thanks
