Hi
When restoring a virtual machine hard disk to a virtual machine with a different name, is it possible to modify the name of the restored VMDK?
For example, I am restoring a VMDK from a machine named '4012' to a machine named '4036'.
The result is a bit messy in that all of the VM files are named 4036 with exception of the VMDK which is named 4012.
Thanks

Re: VM Hard Disk Restore - rename VMDK
Hi Matt,
I believe you can rename this virtual disk right after restore via vSphere Client (Datastore Browser).
Thanks!

Also, if you have enough space on datastores and Storage vmotion, you can use it to rename every file to follow the base name of the virtual machine. See this VMware article http://kb.vmware.com/kb/2008877
