VMware and Hyper-V MP

Post by Cragdoo »

Daft question ...can I install the VMware MP and Hyper-V MP side by side ? Is it a case of manually importing the MP and licenses ?

Hi Craig,

Yes, both MPs (actually set of MPs) can be imported in SCOM simultaneously and monitor both hypervisors. Hyper-V MP requires Virtualization Extensions Management Serivce (VES) to function properly and the same VES can manage VMware Collectors responsible for vSphere data collection.

So, a single VES can manage both vSphere data collection via Collectors and Hyper-V monitoring via SCOM agents installed on Hyper-v hosts. You will need a license with both hypervisors though, for the current version it cannot be two separate licenses.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

thanks sergey

I have requested a merged license from sales to allow me to carry out our management pack trial against our VMWare and Hyper-V hosts
