Warning on backup Proxy

Dear All,

Since I have upgrade from patch 3 to patch 4 and upgrade my licence from enterprise to enterprise plus with veeam enterprise manager, i have a warning on all of my jobs.
The warning is : "cannot find backup proxy capable of retrieving VM data from storage snapshot"
My backup is working but i have this warning and i don't know why.

I try to delete my backup proxy and to reinstall it but the warning is still here. (My proxy is installed on the veeam backup console server).

The support Case number is 00620375

Are you trying to backup from HP SAN snapshots? Do you have a VMware backup proxy properly configured for that?

I have to uncheck the "use storage snapshot" in Storage\Advanced\Storage integration. (solution give by the support)

After upgrade to enterprise plus I add my HP SAN (just to know how to add it ), that's why i think i have this warning.

Yep, that was my initial thought too, since this feature is not available in Enterprise edition. You've added the storage but haven't configured proxy to be able to backup from this storage snapshots.

Veeam v8 (physical server connected direct to SAN)
VMware ESXi, 5.5.0, 2143827
NetApp Release 8.1.3P2 7-Mode

I have a license Veeam B&R Enterprise Plus
NetApp plug-in is enabled
VMware backup proxy is added to the backup infrastructure
The vCenter/ESXi is added to Veeam B&R
VM does not have snapshot
VMware backup proxy used Direct SAN access as Transport mode
Use storage snapshots is enabled

I cannot find where is the problem. Could somebody help me, please?

all LUNs of NetApp storage was searched for VM files:

and VMware backup proxy has configured Direct SAN access for Transport mode.

I do not know how configure proxy to be able to backup from this storage snapshots.

Resolved. SAN zoning was wrong.

My guess, there was some missing Zoning rule for allowing the veeam proxies to properly connect to th different storage LUNs.
Karen, as a general rule, veeam proxies should be configured just like any ESXi server in terms of zoning and masking.

Hello all,

I am running B&R 7, Enterprise Plus edition, using a 3PAR fiber SAN and I want to use storage integration.
I use a physical backup server, connected to the 3PAR fiber fabric through Qlocic HBAs. The storage is scanned within B&R, and I can see all the volumes. When I right-click on a volume, and select "create snapshot" I can see that the task is started, but is staying on the status "Sending request to create SAN volume snapshot (volume name)". This is taking forever and I have to quit the job.

furthermore: When creating a backup job with storage integration (backup from storage snapshot), I get the following message in the job log: "Cannot find backup proxy capable of retrieving VM data from storage snapshot"
The backup proxy server role is located on this same machine. The role is active. Also, the virtual machine is backupped, but only using the hypervisor snapshot, not using a storage snapshot.

Can someone give me some pointers on how to fix this? According to the documentation I have done all I can. Adding the plugin, scanning the SAN. There is not much more to do. The backup server is using Qlocic HBA's... There have been problems with these HBA's, as I can read this in the forum history.

Anyway, thanks for reading and I hope some one here can help me out.
