File to tape from Mac OS SMB share
Hi,
I am trying to run a file to tape job that copies files from a SMB share which is shared from a MAC OS to tape. The problem is the job fails with enumeration error if the path is more than 3 or 4 folders deep. for example //share/share1/share2/share3....
The job works fine if the path is only //share/share1.
Has anyone faced this issue? Any tips or ideas would be appreciated.

Re: File to tape from Mac OS SMB share
What product version you're using? Is a whole folder selected as source for a file to tape job or just individual files residing inside it? In the latter case, can you provide us with full file path, including its name? Also, what's the exact error?

Veeam version 8.0.0.917 (patch 1). Mac OS is 10.9. Entire folder is selected as source for the file to tape job. The error message is "Unable to enumerate files in folder \\<MAC Server IP Address\Share\Share1\Share2\..>".

Re: File to tape from Mac OS SMB share
Hello Sibin,
Thanks for the details -yes the issue looks unexpected, so lets wait for the support team investigation results. In addition, I wonder is there a specific purpose of such setup? As a workaround, I’d just point the tape job directly to the necessary shared folder.

Re: File to tape from Mac OS SMB share
The storage device is connected to this Mac server and we have a few users using Mac machines connected to this mac server. The requirement is to backup this data.
I think the case has been escalated today.
Do u mean mapping the shared folder on the computer and then adding this as a source for the file to tape job? Yes, tried all possible methods to think of, including mapping the shared folder with root credentials. The job always fails with enumeration error.d.popov wrote: As a workaround, I’d just point the tape job directly to the necessary shared folder.

Same problem here with Synology RS3614xs+
and Veeam Backup & Replication 8.0.0.917 patch1 on Windows Server 2012R2
Tape Library is Tandbergh T24 (Exabyte Magnum 224 C306)
Share has 1.0TB of data in 217'173 Files and 14'006 Folders
Longest path local on drive mapping are (245):

and 'suprise' in veeam as smb share (278)

Re: File to tape from Mac OS SMB share
Hi,
Case has been resolved. The support engineer disabled mcafee protection and changed the veeam tape service credentials to match those used to access the SMB share (MAC server is not joined to windows domain). The job ran successfully.
After the call I reverted back the settings and enabled mcafee protection and strangely the job still ran fine. The only other change which we did was 2 hours before the support call the MAC OS was upgraded to 10.10 (Yosemite) from 10.9. Maybe that was the issue.
