Transforming Incremental Backup chains question

Post by michaelryancook »

I have read the Veeam guide but need some assistance understanding the impact of transforming incremental backup chains beyond the first week. For example if I incrementals with a synthetic full on Saturdays and have transform enabled what would the backup chain look like after 28 days? Below is what the guide would show for the first week plus several days. I am not sure what occurs on day 14 and 21 and 28, etc.

I am guessing 28 days would look like below but I don't see how that saves space over regular incremental backups.

Or does it look like below which would reduce space?
