Bare Metal Restore, GPT, Inaccessible Boot Device, Win8.1

Post by stefanbrun »

Hi folks,

My Case: 00830586

i have a problem with a Bare Metal Restore from a HP EliteBook Revolve 810 G1 (Win 8.1) to a HP ProDesk 600 G1.
After starting from Recovery Media and selecting the Bare Metal Restore, the restore process starts and warns me sort of "GPT Disk can give Boot Problems (UEFI)"

The restore process finish successful.
After rebooting i receive a Bluescreen with Inaccessible Boot Device.

thx Stefan

Stefan,

You wrote BMR, does that mean the disk on the HP ProDesk was completely empty, and you recovered all of the partitions with the BMR (including the hidden ones?)

The danger with recovering to another device is that the other device has leftover hidden partitions (because of the UEFI boot...) and therefore does not know how to boot at all. You might want to start on the recovery media again, go to the tools and use command prompt with BCEdit to see what partitions there are, which ones is active etc...

My 2 cents

Thanks for uploading the logs... They will be looked at as soon as possible

Cheers

Hi Mike,

i deleted the Disk from the ProDesk with Paragon. So that i have only one unpartitioned partition.

Now im running the BMR to a completely new SSD.
The Logs form The Case are from my Computer, didn't know that they are submitted directly.

I will post the new Logs from second try here.

i attached my Log to the Case via E-Mail.

After Restoring to a HDD (bigger than the old one) i can boot the system.
After that i did a drive copy HDD --> SSD (error from Paragon 100MB Partition [UEFI] has an error, i corrected the error with Paragon), everything running smoth.
But after a PCMark Test the Sytem had a Bluescreen and won't run any more from the SSD and the untouched HDD.
Same error as before Blue Screen Inaccessible Boot Device.

Thats very strange, i have the feeling, that the Windows Installation has a Problem...

Hello Stefan,
i attached my Log to the Case via E-Mail.
You mean the restore log (it should be placed inside the repository during restoration process)?

Apparently, Veeam Endpoint Backup can also act as an antivirus!
Because "It Just Works" - unless there is a virus present ;)
