Archive VM's to tape

Post by Keyser »

Hi

I'm not a PS guy, so i'm looking for a bit of help to create what i consider a missing feature in Veeam.

I would like an automatic archiving feature in Veeam that basically let's me archive all VM's in a folder to Tape permanently.

My workflow is to move VM's that have been decomissioned to a specific Folder in vCenter. What I would like is:
A job that takes all VM's in the specified folder an makes a full backup to a tape pool of my choice, and then deletes the VM's from my disk/inventory. Any temporary backup to disk til migrate to tape should also be deleted automatically.

What i'm trying to obtain is a "archive" function that moves the VM permanently to Tape and removes it from inventory in vCenter. But it should still be visible as a backup in Veeam so I can easily restore it.

Does anyone have this kind of script running they would be willing to share?
